Not much news of late from the home front, or cabin front to be more precise. That's because it's been busy. Very busy. This post will contain more pictures than words so let's just say WE'RE ALMOST THERE! Trees came down (very few), and land was cleared (very little), Alabama Power visited our place, footers were dug, blocks laid, house framed, porches built, roof added, doors and windows installed, Hardie Board siding put up, and beautiful 6" knotty pine tongue & groove used to cover the ceiling. All that during the months of May and June. Next came the waterline for cold well water followed by a visit from the "plumbing angel." We had several wonderful experiences with builders, construction supply stores, block layers, dozer operators, and even one Paul Bunyon type fella. A future blog post will mention these great folks by name with recommendations for their services. For now we're on to the interior. You know, the flooring, sheet rock, plumbing and lighting fixtures, cabinets, finishing the electrical wiring, setting up the wood burning heater, and painting walls (inside and out). Jeff has acted as our general contractor for the whole project and we'll be doing the rest of the work ourselves. As some of you know, our son, Eli, is here with us so we have a good strong helper!
When the work is done and a kitchen table has been built and moved into the cabin, there will be oily gatherings around that table and essential oil classes taking place here in the Drops of Cabin Life woods. Oh, and watch for the naming contest to be announced. Right now we're thinking, "Belly Acres!" Just kidding. You will get to vote on the name and it WILL be a positive and encouraging one that's chosen.
